John Borrack is recognised as one of Australia’s finest landscape artists. His work invites us to look at and reflect on the history and transformation of our ancient land.
Borrack’s life as an artist has been heavily influenced by the rich cultural history of the Heidelberg district he absorbed while growing up in Ivanhoe from 1938 to 1962.
From an early age his father Leo, a geologist and teacher, instilled in him a lifelong interest in observing and discovering the natural phenomena of this timeless land.
Throughout his life, Borrack’s paintings have reflected the perpetual sensations experienced during his many journeys through the vast regions of Australia. To this day, he continues to strive to convey the authenticity of the motif he is observing in order to celebrate the landscape that has always inspired him.
